When using EXCEL on one computer at work we can format negative currency
numbers to have brackets around them and show in red, while on another
machine the brackets are not available. Does anyone have any idea why this
is. Both are running OFFICE 2003 PRO.  I have not checked this on any other
machines in the office.

Excel picks this up from a windows setting:

Windows start button|control panel
regional and language options
regional options tab
click the customize button
currency tab
change the negative currency format to show ()'s.
