Using office XP, up until yesterday, I could open any file
from a folder or shortcut with a double click.  Now, if
the file name has any spaces it looks for each piece of
the name individually saying that if trying to open from a
shortcut make sure path or name has not changed.  If I
continue to click OK in each error box that pops up it
finally opens the file.  Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is caused by having spaces in the pathname to Excel.

Re-register Excel by Start>Run  "excel.exe /regserver"(no quotes)

You might have to enter the full path to Excel in the Run box.

If this does not take, you will have to go into File Types and put double
quotes around the Command line to Excel.

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Excel.exe"
