All of a sudden my excel spreadsheet is not regognising
dates (eg 24/2/04)as a date but will recognise 2/1/04
(2nd Jan 2004)(english) as 1 Feb 2004 (american). I want
to input date the english way. What went wrong and how do
I rectify it please. It is driving me crazy.
Thank you.

It may be a windows setting:
windows start button
Settings|Control panel|regional settings applet
Check the date tab.

correctly.

Sorry, I don't have a second guess.

choose format cells by right clicking a cell or menu -->
format cells; choose "number" tab choose date and check
that YOUR input format is there. If not, choose "custom"
and add your format ddmmyy or d-m-yy or ... You can see
samples of coding in the "date" section. My local
(location) is set for "Eglish (United States)" and seems
to have many of the day month year formats; perhaps this
changed somehow.
Good luck
