A colleague has Excel opening with the column headings as
numbers instead of letters.

Has anyone come across this before?  How did it happen and
how can we change it back?

Thanks
Helen

Hi Helen,

It sounds like your colleague has R1C1 reference style selected.  To get rid
of it, select
Tools | Options from the menu

Then in the dialog that appears, select the General tab, and uncheck the
"R1C1 Refernce style" option (in Excel 2002 it's the first option under
"settings")
