I use an Access dtabase with a reporting feature. I can export to Excell from
Access. I have created the template that I wish to use, but when I try to
export to excell I do not see the xlt. only the xls.
Do I also need to create a function in the Access database to download what
information I want into the template?

Thank you,

That's how Excel Templates operate.

When you click on open for the Template, you get a new workbook based on that
Template.

The Template itself does not open.

This is feature that preserves the integrity of the original Template.

You should be able to import the Access data to Excel via Data>Import External
Data>New Database Query.
