I get the above message whenever I open Excel.  Rebooting makes no
difference.  I have stopped all unnecessary background tasks but still
get the above message.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled Excel with
no effect.  Everything else on the machine works fine, I only get a
problem with Excel.

What can I do?

Check for spyware...
Buy a faster computer..
Instead of Excel the normal human brain works also good with mathematic and
a calculator... ;-)  just kidding...

Virus and spyware scans have come back clean.  One day Excel was
working fine, the next nothing.  No new software was installed and none
uninstalled so it can't be that which has affected it.

Thank you.  It was the excel.xlb file which was causing the problem
