Equation Evaluation at Multiple Points

I have seen this done but how to do it eludes me.  What I'm looking for
goes something like this.

Fill a column with numbers (like 1, 2, 3,...)

Fill the next column with the same equation.

Somehow "associate" column 1 and 2 so that the equation is evaluated
for the value in the first column.

Select all of column 2 cells
Enter formula needed
Press CTRL+ENTER
all cells filled with formula.
