Hi,

I would like to setup a football (soccer league using excel) so woul
like to find out if its possible.

Basically heres how I would like it to work:

1) First of all I would like excel to help me work out fixtures for
teams over a1 year period.

2) Their results then determine their league position i.e. if team
beats team 2 then team 1 gets 4 points so are number 1 in the leagu
that week

3) Anyone from the 8 teams can go to a nominated website to view thei
fixtures, for which I need to know if I can upload this spreadsheet t
a website?

I hope this is clear? If not please request clarification.....

I would really appreciate it if someone could kindly advise me on wha
formulas or functions that would make this possible? Better still i
anyone can provide me with samples that would be magnificent?

Thanks in advanc

What you're describing is an application. Excel could help with parts of
this, but it's not magic. It will do only what you tell it. You need to
write a detailed specification of what you want (what you've given here is
not nearly enough), then find someone to contribute the time to do the work.

An uploaded spreadsheet is likely to be a pretty cruddy website.

You can easily save an XLS file to an HTML table to upload to a
website.

What are "fixtures"? Is that what we would call "standings"?

If I was doing a League set up like this, I would setup one worksheet
with the games/contests. With each contest getting its own row. Using
columns for home team names, points scored and using a formula to show
the result (win/loss/tie) and a column with a formula to award points.
And the same columns for the losing team.

On another sheet I would do something like using a SUMIF to populate
columns for Home and Road results that roll into a Total results for
each team.

You could easily record a Macro to sort the standings in descending
order based on total points and attach that Macro to a button...

Does this help point you in a better direction?

Hey

That answers my questions perfectly thats fantastic, your suggestion
is exactly what I require, thank you so much.......

Only problem is I do not know how to record macros or use SUMIF.....

Do you have any templates I could use?

If anyone else can help that would be great?

Thanks guys for all your help I really appreciate it, the kids team
run would absoultly be gobsmacked and be so grateful if this ever cam
together..
