Removing duplicate entries?

Forum,
Is there a quick way to remove duplicate entries in my document? I am
cutting and pasting dates into excel, and I have 859 entries so far.
The problem is that many of them are identical. Is there a way to have
excel remove the duplicates so only one remains? I've tried the "filter
for unique records" method that the Microsoft Office Assistance said to
do, to no avail.
Thanks in advance!

I read Debra Dalgleish's instructions:
http://www.contextures.com/xladvfilter01.html#FilterUR

or Chip Pearson has some techniques at:

Thanks Dave. I found both web pages and am working my way through it.
It's a little above my head, but I'll get there!
Thanks again for the info :
