When i open an excel file, it opens and can be viewed but i cannot edit
the file. If the spreadsheet is clicked, it only highlights the cell
and continues to highlight until Excel is closed through taskmanager.

This computer is running on Win XP and connected through a network
phone.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It kind of sounds like the mouse is acting up.

Have you tried just using the arrow keys or gently banging on the mouse.

Maybe even swapping your mouse with a different one?

Nope, i've checked the mouse and keyboard on other programs and it works
fine. The problem only occurs when running Excel. I believe the problem
has something to do with the network phone.

I uninstalled Microsoft Office and this took care of the problem for
about a week or so, but it has returned.

Any further help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't have any other guesses.
