Morning!

I wonder if someone could please help me with what I guess is a
formatting problem.

I want to run a macro from a 'forms' button, but I can't format the
button to any other colour than grey, although the font can of course
be changed to any colour. However changing the font colour doesn't give
me enough contrast for certain colours of font against the grey
background.

An aternative method is to apply a macro to a drawing shape, which
would allow me to use any colour of background and any colour of font.
Excellent, except that it doesn't have the benefit of the 3d effect of
the 'button', and looks pretty naff.

Can anyone tell me if there some way to approach this which will give
me the 3D effect of the button, with the colour flexibility of the
drawing shape?

Excel 2002 V10.26.14.2625

Many thanks.

Hi NomadScot,

Try using buttons from the Control Toolbox rather than Forms buttons,

Hi Norman,

Many thanks for your reply.

Now you've opened a can of worms! :)

I seem to have ignored the Control Toolbox contents over the years
because I could never figure out how to apply a macro to them an
indeed what their purpose is, and why they should be used in preferenc
to the 'Forms' controls, which were always easy for me.

Best I start to learn!

:)

Again, many thanks

Hi NomadScot,

As a starting point, in design mode, double click the control and an empty
click event macro will be created and selected in the relevant sheet code
module.

Clicking the right-hand dropdown at the top of the screen with provide you
with access the other event procedured available for the control.

Again in design mode, right-click the control and select properties from the
popup context menu. The property of immediate interest for you is the
control's BackColor property.
