How do I split a small group of cells into a number of different column
without affecting the rest of the cells on the sheet? Is this eve
possible?

I have is six rows, and I want to split the first column of all o
these rows into a number of different columns, without affecting th
arrangement of columns above these six rows.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Have you tried it using data>text to columns?

I tried using data>text to columns but it didn't do what I was trying to
do. Maybe I wasn't using it properly? Or is there some other way?

I just selected the cell(s), NOT the rows, that I wanted to split and used
data>text to columns and it worked just fine. An example of your text might
be helpful

From your description, it is not clear to me what you want to do.

However, all cells in a column must have the same width.
