Is there any way of linking individual worksheets in a workbook to
separate workbooks so that they will automatically update? Just cutting
and pasting messes up the formatting and loses the charts.
Thanks

Open the two workbooks; let's call them Target and Source
In A1 of Target type =, then click on cell D1 of Source
Now click the green checkmark in the formula bar (or press ENTER key)
This gives you the formula =[Source.xls]Sheet1!$D$1
If the file name has spaces you get ='[The Source.xls]Sheet1'!$D$1
best wishes
