Whilst working in Excel, I quickly dragged the office assistant out of the
way to the right, and it disappeared completely off the spreadsheet. I can
hear it running, how do I get it back?

TIA

Please -- tell how you did it again, in detail.

Not too sure. It's still running and making suggestions I can no longer see.
Therefore, the bad news is, I can't close down  unless I use Control Alt
Delete, which means losing my work!

This is a real PITA.

Having the same problem in Word :-(

Any suggestions?
Cheers

tox,

Try changing your screen resolution to a higher value (Control Panel -
Display - Settings).  That might bring it onto the screen.

Keep saving your work.  Not being able to reboot is like being Charlie on
the MTA.  He didn't have a nickel for the fare increase, so he had to ride
the train endlessly.  His wife brought him a sandwich every day (guess she
didn't want him back very badly).

Kingston Trio. Nice.

However, unlike Charlie who's fate is still unlearned, I fear the
Office "Assistant" will always find a way to return.

I don't use the assistant, so this is a guess...

Can you use the mouse keys to move him (even if you can't see him (er, it??)).

Maybe that'll get him to a visible location.

If that doesn't work, maybe you can cheat.

Save your work (file|save) and close excel and word (and anything else that uses
that thingy).

Then use windows start button|Search to look for a folder named Actors (it's
buried on your pc somewhere)

Rename that folder to DeadActors

Then any of the Office Suite of programs won't be able to find the assistant and
you'll be back to getting "normal" prompts.

I have no idea if these normal prompts will be visible, though.
