Verify that looking at DATA of SQL SERVER VIEW will be read-only

We want to start allowing our users to have ODC files to connect to and look
at data in SQL SERVER VIEWS.

I want to make sure that the users will only ever be able to look at this
data and not actually change the back-end SQL data.

Our MIS Dept. has given me Read-only rights to one of our SQL databases.  I
can extract any data I wish with MsQuery, and process it in Excel.  I can not
change anything in the database itself.
