I have a spreadsheet (didn't develop it).  It is very basic - you enter
in information (col's A through J).  One col contains the usersname.
You can have multiple col's with the same username but different events
and dates.  At the top of the row (username) there is an down arrow.
You hit the down arrow and it drops down (in alphabetical order) the
names entered.  You tap the name and it displays a list of everything
entered in for that name (you can have multiple usernames but with
different events).  Everything worked fine up until I reached Row 5067.
Rows 1 through 5067 are reflected (names only) in the drop down menu.
You select the name and it jumps you over to all entries with the same
name.  Anyway - any names entered after Row 5066 are not in the drop
down list.  It would appear (novice opinion) that the formula goes from
Row 1 through 5067?  How do I find the formula?

Thanks for your help.

I think you are describing the AutoFilter here. It could be that the filter
is working fine but you have reached the limit of items that can be listed
in the drop-down (a quick test on my Excle shows a limit fo 1000 items, if
you have repeated names then you could come to 5066 in total I suppose).

You should still be able to use the Custom filter. Just hit that little
arrow and select custom, then enter your search criteria using the tools
provided.

Another possibility (less likely from your description) is that you have a
blank line in your list. The Auto Filter stops at blank lines.

If you want to search for cells with formulae in them, just select Go To
from the Edit menu, click on the Special button and select Formulas. You can
get Excel to serach for all cells containing a formula in this way.

Lastly, if you think there might be a formula with the number 5066 in it,
you couldjust search for the number 5066.

Good luck.

I only have the one spreadsheet.

Please forgive me - but I'm just a "end user" with this spreadsheet.
The person that created it is long gone.  I've been using this
spreadsheet since 2001!

This is what the AutoFilter says:  $A$7:$J$5248

I figured out that the $A is for Col A
$7 is for the first Row Names (i.e., username, activity, etc. - they
have the down arrows)
$J - have no idea.
$5248 is the actual last row of entries

Now, Row 5066 is the last Row that is reflected in the Username
drop-down menu.

Does that make sense to you?

OK - Excel AutoFilter is limited to 1000 rows (actually a little more).
I removed the year 2001 and all works fine.

Thanks for your help.
