To rename a range-
Highlight the cells to be named
Click on <Insert><Name><Define>
Type in the name and click on <OK>
To delete the extant name-
Click on <Insert><Name><Define>
Highlight the name to be deleted
Click on <Delete>
For additional reading click on F1 and type in define

Excel 2007 doesn't have a menu bar. It does have an Insert tab on the
ribbon, but there's nothing there that maps to "Name" on the Insert menu
pulldown.

But it supports Excel 2003 keyboard sequences mimicking KEYBOARD use of the
Excel 2003 menu. Hold down an [Alt] key and press I (for Insert), then press
N (for Name) then D (for Define).

Thanks, Harlan. That worked. It also gave me the clue I needed. It appears
the preferred way to do it in Excel 2007 is to ckick on the "Formulas" tab,
and then click on "Name Manager."

The quickest way to get to the Define Name dialog is the Ctrl-F3
shortcut.
For more about range names see http://www.cpearson.com/excel/named.htm
