MS Office Forum / Excel / New Users / April 2007cell reference not displaying value
I have received a spreadsheet from someone else that is acting strangely, perhaps someone can help. If I make a reference to another cell, say I am in cell R3 and want to imput the value of A1, I would simply input =A1 in cell R3 and the value of A1 is displayed: no fuss, no muss. When I try this (numerous ways) the formula itself is displayed. Any ideas?? You may have the cell formatted as text. Try selecting that cell format|cells|number tab|General (or anything but Text) then hit F2 followed by enter.
