Embarrasing rookie question. I want to link columns A:G in workbook 1
to columns A:G in workbook 2. (Two separate documents).
When I select columns A through G in workbook 1, press equal then
select columns A:G in workbook 2 nothing happens except I have a
formula in A1 -- =WordCounts.xls!$A:$G, no other values change.
Help the rookie please.
With both workbooks open...........
Select columns A:G in book1
Switch to Book2 and Edit>Paste Special>Paste Links>OK>Esc.
To use the method you describe you have to select only one cell in book2 after
entering the = sign in book1.........won't work for ranges.
Then you would copy that formula down and across

Works great. Is there a way to make this happen without a dialog box
asking if I want to update links?

Tools>Options>Edit. Uncheck "Ask to update links"
OR Edit>Links>Startup Prompt.
Click the option you want to use.

Don't run a Mac version of Excel so can't help there.
Wait for a response from a Mac user.
