Using Microsoft Excel 2003. New to Excel.  Tried to open  file.  Error msg
came back that reads "????.xlr is locked for editing."  Do not how it got
locked.  How can I unlock file.  Thanks in advance.

Are you opening the file from your hard drive or from some removable media
like a floppy, flash drive etc?

From hard drive.  Thanks for your response.

Did you have that file open in MSWorks?

If you did, close MSWorks.

If not, sometimes rebooting the pc will help.
