I am having a problem with all of office but there is not a general
office group. Every time i open an excel file i get a message excel has
encountered an error and must close. I have all updates applied. I have
uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times and still get the error. It
does not matter if i start a new file or open an existing i get the same
error. I have two questions does any body know how to fix this problem
or does anybody know how to remove all traces of office from my computer
with out having to format and reload windows. Any help would be
appreciated. Thanks Rob

Chip Pearson has some notes on how to diagnose startup errors:
http://www.cpearson.com/excel/StartupErrors.htm

And Jan Karel Pieterse has more notes:

I'd spend time looking at the toolbar file suggestion first.
