How to add a new trend line?

I have chart which plots sales income (y axes) vs months (x axes) over the
past 10 years. The chart already contains two trend lines which begin at the
origin.

I want to add a new trend line to the existing chart beginning in 2005 to
present but I can't seem to do it. The x and y data for that period begins
at a200-250 and b200-250.

Appreciate any suggestions

Jim,
I assume that the data is on Sheet1 and is in c200:c250.
Select the chart, right mouse click and select Source data, on the Series tab.
Add series. Name: "you supply",Values: "=Sheet1!$C$200:$C$250"

Thank you for responding.
I followed your suggestion and was able to add the new trend line. It is in
the correct position on the y axix (sales income) but in the wrong location
on the x axis. In other words, the trend line starts back at the charts
origin date instead of at July of 2005.

I suspect I must use one of the trend line options??

Note - the original sales figures are in series1 from a205 to a376 and dates
are in b205 to b376.

Hi Jim,

There seems to be a bit of a discrepancy in your explanation
You say that your original data is in A205:B376 and yet
your subset is in A200:B250 if that is the case then a
trendline on your subset would actually go back to
before your origin.

Nevertheless, assuming an XY scatter chart, the way to add
the subset is to add a new series and set
X Values  =Sheet1!$B200:$B250
Y Values  =Sheet1!$A200:$A250
Then OK
Then right click on a data point in your chart and add trendline
select which type of trendline and OK.

Yes, the original sales figures are in series1 from a205 to a376 and dates
are in b205 to b376.

This xy chart goes back to the late 1990's. Beginning in mid 2005 (around
b352), the slope of the sales data has changed and I would like to generate
a new trend line starting at this date and going forward.

I did create a new series X Values  =Sheet1!$B352:$B376 and Y Values
=Sheet1!$A353:$A376 and added the trend line.

The trend line looks correct but it is not positioned at the correct dates
(b353 to b376) - it appears at the correct sales values but at the wrong
dates - it starts back at b205 instead of b352.

Haven't done charts in a long time so back to the books!!!
