Hi,

I'm using a simple formula to count blank cells:

=COUNTIF(A2:F2,"")

Is there a way to exclude cells that are shaded within a formula?

Thanks,

Mike

<shaded within a formula>

What does that mean?

Michael,

If by "shaded" you mean a color fill, the answer is no.  Color fill is cell formatting.
Take a look at "Formatting as data" at http://www.smokeylake.com/excel/excel_truths.htm for
some background on this.

Yes, that is what I meant.  Using color fill as a criteria in a formula.  I
will check the link you provided.

Thanks for all replies,

Mike
