Excel files in File command

When I click on File, among other things that show up,
are the last four files that I have opened.  Is there a way
to change the number of files that show? e.g. could I have the
last six file  names  accessed show  up?

<Tools> <Options> <General> tab,

And enter the number you want by "Recently Used File List".

Tools>Options>General>Recently used file list.

This number can be changed to a maximum of 9
