Selecting rows of cells

Need Help, sometimes when I try to select a row of cells, Excel also selects
a row or two below the row I am trying to select. What causes this problem
and what can I do about it. It only happens sometimes and at other times it
works like it is supposed to. The only way I can get it to stop is to close
the file then the Excel program and restart it. Most of the time this works.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

When it happens do you see EXT at the bottom of the screen?  If so you are
in extended mode.  To get out od extended mode press the function key F8

Thanks Sandy,

I will give that a try. I am using Excel 2007, I forgot to tell you that. It
is maddening to have to deal with this issue. Am I doing something that
causes the program to go into Extended mode? One minute it is working fine
the next time I go to select a row, I get the problem. The issue is very
inconsistent.

Have a great day!

Try it anyway but with XL2007 all bets are off <g>

I bet you have merged cells in that range that you're trying to select.

Each version of excel treats merged cells differently.  With xl2003, I don't see
that behavior.  But I think that's the way xl97 worked (and I don't recall the
other versions behaviors).

So you may have at least a couple of choices.

#1.  Upgrade to a different version--although that may not help depending on
what you're going to do with those selected rows.

#2.  Get rid of all the merged cells
    Select all the cells
    format|cells|alignment tab|uncheck Merge cells
    (xl2003 menu system)

Dave,

Thanks for the response, I am using Excel 2007 and as far as I know, I have
never merged or separated these particular cells. It will be working just
fine then the next time I try, I have the problem. I will try Sandy's
suggestions using the F8 the next time it occurs and see if that helps.

Thanks Again!
