would somebody please tell me how to change the defaut calculation setting
inside options to automatic from manual?

I can't have this change be permanent, I would like that everytime I open a
workbook the setting is defaulted to calculate= automatic.

Please, HELP!!!

Yes, I switched it to manual and I can't find a way to set it on auto by
default always.

Excel picks up setting from the first workbook that you open in that
session--including personal.xls.

So open excel
Unhide personal.xls (if you have to)
(window|Unhide in xl2003)
change that setting
Hide personal.xls (if you want)
Close excel

Answer Yes to the "do you wanna save personal.xls" prompt.

(Or you'll be doing it again!)
