Cut and Paste without taking borders

This has driven me nuts for years, and it seems so basic:  I have a
spreadsheet with some borders around the outside of an area, and all I want
to do is say move a value from the upper right corner of the area to
somewhere in the middle.  If I cut and paste, it not only takes the value,
but also removes the borders from the upper right cell and pastes them in
the middle cell, too.  I don't want that! I just want to move the values.

So over and over I have to copy the cell, paste special, pick value only, go
back to the first cell and delete the contents.  So many steps to do
something so basic!

Surely there's a simple way to do this that I've missed.

Thanks for any help.

Actually, you can click on the cell(s) that you want to move the contents,
right-click drag to receiving cell and drop, choose "Copy here as values
only" then go back to your original cell(s) to clear contents. I don't know
what to do about that last part but the drag/drop copy does speed things up.

Thanks for your quick response. But I can't seem to get right-click drag to
work for me.  I just get a shortcut menu as soon as I right-click.

Right-click on the edge of the cell, not on the cell.

You will see a four-headed arrow when you right-click on the edge.  Drag that to
where you want.

Thanks, I get it now.  This would be my complete answer if only it gave me
the choice of "Move Here with Values Only."

A little less painful way is to left-click on the cell you wish to copy, then
go to the Formula Bar and highlight the value and Right-click > Cut.  Then
Right-click and Paste to the cell you wish to receive te value.......

Thanks, that really is less painful - and it allows me to use plain old
ctl-x, ctl-c and ctl-v for editing.
