I'm using Excel 2003 SP3. I have a fairly large spreadsheet that does not
always recalc - the majority of the cells do recalc but others don't and it
is random. I have the sheet- set to Automtic Recalc, i checked and the
formula is not TEXT, it doesn't recalc if I hit F9 - the only way I can get
it to recalc is to copy the formula from a nearby cell and then the recalc is
made.

Has anyone else dealt with this problem ? Please help

Thanks

1) Try Ctrl-Alt-F9
2) Read www.xxcl.de/foreign/excelstuff.htm #1 for general architecture

Yes, I have had the same issue. I can hit F2 in the cell and that cell
will calculate, not very useful, but handy when showing IS that there
is a problem! Hitting F9 does nothing. Forcing a recalc of the whole
book generally, but not always, works.
Press CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+F9 Rechecks dependent formulas, and then
calculates all formulas in all open workbooks, regardless of whether
they have changed since last time or not. Keep in mind that Excel will
calc ether the active sheet (Shift F9) or all open workbooks. So
keeping my problem files in a separate instance of excel helps some.
Sometimes I've had to close and then re-open the worksheet.
A hint - (on my machine at least) Excel does not change the cursor to
an hourglass unless excel loses focus. So you are not even sure if it
is calculationg. When I first had this problem, I kept thinking that
Excel crashed.

If you find a fix, please let me know!!
