Multi-row conditional formatting help

Hi there,
I want to format a row based on whether column E is greater than column
D. I want this conditional formatting to apply to 7000 rows.

I can make the row change colour for the first row, which is fine, but
when I highlight all the rows and then select CF, and then click on OK,
it makes all rows red, its still using the reference to the first rows
cells. How do I make the CF apply to all rows?

What version of Excel are you using?

If you are using 2007, go to Conditional formatting and make a new rule from
a formula. Put this formula in

$E1>$D1

Set the format to Fill Red

Set "applies to" to "=$1:10000" The second number is your last row (make it
the max if you want).

If you are using an earlier version of Excel, highlight the whole first row.
Go to Format > Conditional Formatting.

Set the condition 1 to "formula is". Type the same formula above. Set the
fill to red.

Close the CF box. Now, highlight the first row and copy it. Highlight all
the rows that you want to be similarly formatted. Edit> Paste Special>
Formats.

That worked for me.
