When selecting a single column, the selection expands to the span of a merged
cell in that column. I cannot duplicate this behaviour on other Excel
installations, we're using Excel 2003 SP2. Spent a morning googling for a
solution but did not succeed. Help me guys, you're my last resort...

I can duplicate that in xl2003 SP3 if I do it via code.

But I can't duplicate it if I do it manually.

You want to share the address of the merged cells and the column that you're
selecting--and how you're selecting it.

But each version of excel seems to behave differently with merged cells.  IIRC,
xl97 did expand the selection to include those merged columns when trying to
select a single column manually.
