Excel is automatically making it a hyperlink. Clicking it will
open your email app pre-addressed to this person.
You can simply right-click it and select "Remove Hyperlink"
To remove multiple hyperlinks (note - just because you may
manually format it so it doesn't look like there is a hyperlink,
it may still be there), do the following;
Type a "1" in any cell (as long as it isn't formatted as text)
Copy
Select the hyperlink cells
Paste|Special|Multiply.

In addition, you can turn off the automatic hyperlinking:
In Excel 2002:
Tools>AutoCorrect Options>AutoFormat As You Type tab
Uncheck: Internet and network paths with hyperlinks

Thanks. In 2007, that is Office Button, Excel Options, Proofing,
Auto-correct options, Autoformat as you type, then uncheck
"internet and network paths as hyperlinks.
