Can't clear cell of "object" copied/ pasted from web page

I pasted some text from a web page into a cell in a speadsheet.  But when I
copied from the web page I must have copied a check box that was near the
text, so that got pasted as well.  Thing is, I can't get rid of it.  I've
tried to clear the contents of the cell, but only the text in the cell goes
away.  Even deleting the entire line or column only gets rid of the text.
The check box is "stuck" in the same spot on the sheet.  I've looked at the
Format Cell function but I can't see any way to address this issue.

Any ideas?  TIA

Show the control toolbox toolbar.

In xl2003:
View|Toolbars|check control toolbox
Click on the Design mode icon
Try to delete the object.
click on the design mode icon to get back to normal
close that toolbar.
