Given a date how do i in excel calculate the number of years

If you mean the difference between that date and today's date, then
you can use the DATEDIF function. However, it is only included in
Excel Help for version 2000, but fortunately Chip Pearson explains how
to use it here:

http://www.cpearson.com/excel/datedif.aspx

Hope this helps.

Later date minus earlier date divided by 365 (formated
as a number).
