Record macro tool bar

Please can someone tell me how I can restore the macro toolbar that is
usually offered when recording a macro; without it I do not know how to
switch from relative to absolute references.

Select the reference, press F4

If you manually close the Recording toolbar when recording a macro it does
not appear on its own the next time you record. You should let it disappear
on its own when you click to end recording. To restore things, start
recording a macro and then make the toolbar appear via View, Toolbars,
Customize, Toolbars and checking Stop Recording.

Start a new workbook
Then start recording a macro
View|Toolbars|check Stop Recording
Close the workbook without saving (to destroy that macro that didn't matter)

(xl2003 menu system)
