I have lost my "stop macro recording toolbar" and can not figure how to get
it to reappear.  I know this is simple, thanks in advance for your help.

While "recording", Click Tools, Customize, and put a tick in "Stop
Recording".

Just to add to Bob's post, when you are finished recording a Macro click on
the Stop recording button (Black square) not on the 'X' and you will not
