MS Office Forum / Excel / New Users / April 2008Office Suite Excel to Works Excel
I'm trying to copy data from Office Suite to Works but the data won't paste the same way and I can't figure out to format it to match the original document. Is there a way? Any suggestions? What are you trying to copy and paste? Which program, (Word, Excel, etc). I haven't used Works that much but I believe it to be a bit of a poor relation to Office. From a quick look at the web, it appears that Works to Office is no problem, but Office to Works is. I've just seen several posts to newsgroups saying that the formatting and other thing were screwed when copying and pasting. I don't know why you're trying to doing this, but a guess would be you want to send an Excel spreadsheet to someone who doesn't have Excel, but does have Works. One way round it would be for you both to download Open Office :- http://download.openoffice.org/ Excel files work in the Open Office spreadsheet and it's free to download. Not all of the Excel functions work, but the most common ones do. It's a big download, about 300meg I think, but it doesn't take that long unless you're on a dial-up.
