MS would not recommend that you leave yourself vulnerable as you have done by
unchecking that security function.
Your OE will now allow "all" attachments to be opened or saved, harmful or not.
I believe you can keep that security by creating exclusions for designated file
extensions but I don't use OE so can't say how.

If you have anti-virus software that scans everything coming in, then
you are not totally vulnerable. Leaving the setting as it is means
that you cannot download these attachments sent to you, and I'm sure
this was introduced as a panic reaction to early viruses.
