I have a workbook with 10 worksheets.  I would like to link on
worksheet to a Word document so that when I update this particula
worksheet the document updates as well.

I tried to do Insert Object but it only allows me to select a file.  I
there a way to take just one worksheet in a workbook.  Also, th
worksheet has a graph included.

Thank

Dah,

Copy the Excel stuff, and use Paste Special in Word.  Choose Paste link.
There are different ways to paste, depending on what you want in the Word
document.

Earl's response doesn't work in Excel 2000 (I don't know about the othe
versions) because there is no Paste Special in Word.

Instead, in Word, select Insert/File (instead of Object), change th
file type (drop down list at bottom to Excel) and find your Excel file
In 2000 anyway, you then get a prompt to either select the entir
workbook or a specific worksheet.  That's it

WM,

I don't have Word 2000 here, but I have Word 97 and Word 2002.  Both have
Edit - Paste special.  I'm willing to bet some long odds that Word 2000 has
it too.  :)

Thanks.  Using Insert/File instead of Object works

I'm glad I didn't take the bet, Earl.  You are right, of course.  I kee
forgetting that the toolbar menus only display the actively use
choices unless you click on the arrow at the bottom (or just wait).

I stand corrected

I don't find this very friendly, so I've turned it off.

Tools|Customize|Options Tab|
I've checked the "always show full menus" checkbox.

Dave,

Friendly?  I think it's downright counterproductive even for the folks for
whom it's intended -- the beginners.  With all these antics, I think
Microsoft has had actually steadily made this stuff more confusing for the
beginners. I see it in the problems I see users have, and the questions I
hear.

Hear, Hear!

The eay the shortened menus work, the actual items shown keep changing based
upon use!

Another irritation is the default of putting the Standard and Formmating
toolbars on one row.    How long do you think a begininner will find out how
to turn off that "feature" on their own?

When I walk by someone's desk and I see these things, I change them the way I
like.

If they object (very infrequently), I'll change it back.  But a lot of people
with whom I work would be confused.

Me--I'm just irritated for having to wait/not find icons quickly.

Hmmm, IMO that's rather presumptuous. It would be polite to offer to
help, not help yourself.

I usually get "Thank You", because they are (were) completely unaware of the
possibility, or the existence, of the "better" config.

In fact, I got through the tools|options tabs changing them to what I like, too.

I agree with you RD that a lot of users (most) don't ever look to see what
could/should be changed.
