Slow Menus and screen flickers

Hi all,

I fired up my PC today and all of the Office Apps (version 2003) are suffering from very slow menus.
The menus are slowly appearing from an opaque ghosted image to the full menu.  This all takes a
couple of seconds and is very annoying.  This only happens with the Office apps ( and to a lesser
degree IE6).  The screen also flutters a bit when redrawing.

I have used the Office Repair feature and updated my video driver with no resulting change. Is there
some setting that will fix this?

BTW, This is not the Show Full Menu option.

But is it the option to show those menus in an animated way?

Tools|customize|Options tab
What do you have for menu animations?

(I like (none).  But I like vanilla ice cream, too.)

Thanks, Dave,

I found the problem with the menus. The Display >Appearance >Effects option was reset to have the
menus "fade" in...something I didn't do...hmmm.  Now I need to find out where the option to have the
screen "wipe" down when I scroll.  That's very annoying.

If I didn't have an anti-virus program running I'd say something changed my settings.

Richard
