Automatic Calculation Not happening

Using Excel 2002 on XP Pro, some of my network users (2 so far) have
reported that Automatic Calculation of their spreadsheets is not happening.
This seems selective in that some spreadsheets work and some don't.

Automatic Calculation IS turned on in Optioons, but does not happen.  Only
way to calculate is to F9 and perform a manual calculation.

There are no macros running anywhere .

Can anyone suggest any advice?

Thanks

The Calculation option, while a global setting, is saved in each
workbook, and the instance of XL will take its setting from the first
workbook that opens.

So if you open a workbook that was saved with Calculation set to Manual,
then all other workbooks that are opened in that instance of XL will
also be in Manual Calculation mode, even if they were last saved in
Automatic.

Actually opening the options within the file which will not auto-calculate
shows it turned ON.

This is what is confusing me.  I could understand if it had been turned off
previously but it indicates it is ON and does not work.

Was it the first file opened in that instance of XL? Is there a
Personal.xls or other file in the XLStart folder (which opens when XL is
started) that has Calculation set to Manual?

No, there is nothing opening first (either in the background) or by the
user.

I have reformatted one of the problem machines (for other reasons) about a
week ago and reinstalled Office XP Pro with SP3 and they are still having
problems.

Now today a second user reported the problem.

I don't know if this is the case with your problem, but a lot of time
when auto calculation doesn't work, its because there is a circula
reference problem.

You might try going thru excel's troubleshooting tips on circula
references, to see if this is the problem
