Don't know if this is what you're looking for, but you can *exactly*
duplicate Sheet1, including the protection, by holding
<Ctrl>, and then click and drag the sheet tab left or right to create an
exact replica, with the same sheet name, with a 2 appended to it.

Hi All,

I have a protected sheet(Sheet1) with some cells unlocked. I want to
copy the contents of Sheet1 to Sheet2 with the protection retained.
If I do a Copy&Paste the protection details are lost.

Is there a way to copy protection details also
