Hi, if using Infopath 2007 on a standalone PC can I create forms to be
distributed and completed via Outlook?  Can I receive the data submitted or
must I have SharePoint Server?

Also can I use data from Access to personalise the email forms sent out?
Can I save the data returned to Access without SharePoint?

We are a very small business.  Is SharePoint something that runs on our
ISP's server where our web site is hosted (i.e. like FrontPage Extensions)?

Sorry to be so dim!
Thanks
Jane

Yes.  You can configure the form to submit to e-mail.

1.  Put a text field on your form called email.  [you can call it what you
like really]

2.  From - Tools - Submit Options - check allow user to submit this form.
E-mail should be the selected method by default.

3.  Press the Add button so that you can configure the email submission data
connection options.

4. Press the FX button next to the TO line.  Now click insert field or
group.  Pick the email field we added earlier from your form data source.

5.  Drag a button onto you form from the controls section of the Design
Tasks panel on the left of your screen.

6.  Double click the button  - from the actions drop down on the button
properties screen you are looking at pick submit.

Ta da.  When users press the submit button it will submit via e-mail to the
email address you type in that field.  Users will see a confirmation box with
the details before the mail actually sends.  Must have Outlook installed for
this to work.  There is also a submit button on the toolbar in InfoPath so
you really don't have to put a submit button on the form itself.

Data from Access - Yes.  Tools  - Data Connections - Add - receive data -
from database - next - pick your poison.

Does it run on our ISP?  There are hosting companies that host it and take
care of it for you.  This is a nice option because you don't have to worry
about taking care of the back end.  Otherwise - if you are a small company -
you can run Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 on small business server or on
any Windows 2003 server.  You can even use SQL Express 2005 for free.  If you
outgrow that it's no big deal to move up to SQL 2005 standard.
