I am just getting started with InfoPath and have some basic (I think)
questions.
I want to use this in association with Access databases (at least
initially).
1. Am I correct in understanding that I can get forms made in InfoPath to
dump directly into an Access database?
2. Well I be able to send that form in an email and/or as an attachment have
it filled out and sent back to me?
3. Will the user filling out the form need to have InfoPath installed?
4. Do I start with InfoPath and create a form that I then somehow tie to an
Access database OR do I start with my database and use and existing Access
Form to create an InfoPath form?
5. Do I need SharePoint involved to do any of this on this very basic level?
Obviousally I am not asking for details on HOW to do all this - but really
just want to know if I am understanding correctly WHAT InfoPath does.

Any help here will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

OH! and any links to good tuts on this would be much appreciated.

Hey Dave.

1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Depends
4. the former
5. No

My advice, after years of solutions and electronic form solutions
especially, is architect it right from the start and skip the learning curve
that most developers and organizations go through. Like most applications,
there are multiple ways to do things and just because it can be done does not
always mean its the way you should do it. I have seen evolved solutions built
all out of a spreadsheet and it kind of works but not very well.
I would recommend you look at the Database Accelerator product at
http://www.qdabra.com
With it you can do everything you need quickly and affordably. You can
contact me directly via the www.infopathdev.com forums if you would like a
demo or have more questions.
