I've check and the default programming language is definately set to VBScript.

Unfortunately, each time I launch the editor by going to Tools | Programing
| Microsoft Script Editor, the jscript editor launches instead.

can anyone point me to a resolution ?

thanks in advance.

Dennis,

If you open your form template and go to tools-->form options-->programming,
what language is selected?  If it is JScript, then click "remove code" to
remove the code file, and select "VBscript" instead.

Post back if this results in an error.

Followed your instructions below...,

Under the 'Advanced' tab there's a 'Programing language section. There's a
single drop-down menu entitled 'Form code language' that is currently
displaying JScript.

This is grayed out and cannot be changed.

Any ideas ?

thanks again for your assistance.
