I have created a lookup drop down list field using an .xml file.  This works
well.  My intention is to have this drop down list selection populate other
fields within the form.  I have attempted to use the rules within the drop
down list to point toward the field I need populated.  Each time blank.  Help.

If you're not using browser forms, you can try this article:
http://enterprise-solutions.swits.net/infopath2003/autofill-fields-dropdown-sele
ction-secondary-data-source.htm

The database would be the XML file in your case.

Works like a champ.  I did need to ensure that the ID was listed in the .xml
file
