I am very new to infopath and have mostly learned through trial and error,
but how can I program buttons? I have four buttons on a form, the first will
email and close the form, the second email and clear the form (to be used
again), the third print and close the form, the fourth print and clear the
form. Can someone help me get this working?

You want to have the button Use Rules
Then Add rules to each that perform the actions you describe.

I think you will get the hang of it quickly.
You can have whatever combination of rules and the actions within each rule.
