Hello,  I have the same problem of the Infopath 2003 SP1 application crashing.

However my problem seems to have no defined steps to repeat.

1.  I will edit the form (Add data validation rules)
2.  Save the Form
3.  Preview the Form and Bang On it.
4.  Application will crash and send message to microsoft.

I have all current patches , security updates and I am running windows 2003
server for development reasons.

Thank you,
Pat Ross

Hmm.... :)

Actually, I think I know what you mean. If you'd like, go to Control
Panels->Admin Tools->Event Viewer. There will be an Error listed under the
Application section after a crash, and it should contain a string like
"Fault bucket 131467305.". I might be able to confirm the issue if I know
that bucket.

Hi Brian

I am also experiencing a problem with InfoPath sp1 crashing when using
VS Toolkit. I am running Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition, VS
2003 Enterprise Architect.

Solution works fine (preview, debug etc.) from within VS environment,
but crashes when opening template (from published location). If I
create new IP project with new template will crash if I have compiled
project, but NOT if project not compiled (opening manifest.xsf in this
case). Compiled form works fine when published to Windows XP machine.

Event Log:
Faulting application infopath.exe, version 11.0.6357.0, stamp
40b65d54, faulting module mscorwks.dll, version 1.1.4322.2032, stamp
40f6320e, debug? 0, fault address 0x0007214e.

Any Ideas?

Thanks

Gareth

The bucket information from an event right next to the one you reported will
be most helpful, but I can already tell you that your issue is different.

Pat,

Did you have a lot of script code? I had a couple of spectacular
crashes before SP1 in script-heavy forms. But none since.

I know that Microsoft tried to determine a cause for those crashes
but, as far as I am aware, the Dr. Watson information didn't contain
sufficiently precise information to track the problem down.

Andrew Watt,

Thank you for the response.
Here is the information you requested.

I followed all of the steps in my previous post and recieved the following
events in the application event log.

Information <EVENT POSTED>

Bucket 145647556, bucket table 1, faulting application infopath.exe, version
11.0.6357.0, stamp 40b65d54, faulting module mshtml.dll, version
6.0.3790.219, stamp 415b0fba, debug? 0, fault address 0x00105370.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

Error <EVENT POSTED>

Faulting application infopath.exe, version 11.0.6357.0, stamp 40b65d54,
faulting module mshtml.dll, version 6.0.3790.219, stamp 415b0fba, debug? 0,
fault address 0x00105370.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

Additional information:

The form is bieng built on a fully licensed version of infopath 2003 sp1 by
a buisness analyst.

The form is uploaded and checked into a sharepoint portal site.

I check out the form and attempt to add the buisness logic (Form validation
rules)

Form crashes when I add buisness rules then try to simulate heavy data entry
in the way a data entry person might.  Which means I Bang On It.

I am using Windows 2003 Studio and Infopath 2003 sp1.

Thank you,

Pat Ross

Thanks for following up. I can't promise anything, but I believe that the
following IE patch should resolve the issue.

Brian Teutsch,

Thanks for the info.  But the patch did not affect the bug I reported.

By the way.  This is not a script intense form.

Thank you,

Pat Ross

Sorry that didn't help, I really expected it to do the trick. I'm afraid
there's not more that I can suggest.

Sorry,
Brian

Brian Teutsch,

The problem I stated seems to only be happening in windows 2003.  I have a
second machine running Windows XP Professional with Infopath 2003 sp1 and I
have not had a problem.

Thank you,

Pat Ross
