Andrew,
Thanks for responding--I guess my question was truncated. I would like to
save the infopath forms to an autogenerated filename perhaps with a sequence
number
generator or a unique number? Is there a way to do this? Thanks for any
help.

Hi,
Ah ... this is a VFAQ.
My advice is to use a database if you want unique/autogenerated
numbers.
It's one of these things that seems as if it should be easy and it
isn't. When you have multiple people involved some of whom are mobile
it moves from not easy to essentially impossible in my view.
I don't usually give dogmatic advice but this one tempts me just to
say, "Don't do it!". :) ... unless you use a database.

I have a similar issue I need to resolve....
It is easier if I want to save the form with a filename that equals a
field's data?
I have a field called "shot". The user fill in the field and calls the
"16_01d", can I have infopath automatically save the form into SPS library
and call it form "16_01d"?
In other words, when saving the form, I'd like the user to be presented with
a default filename based on the user's data entry from a field. Is that
possible?
thanks for your help...

If you have only local users submitting to a sharepoint form library,
you can make this work with a submit button and rules. Works OK with
a small number of users and low volume of forms.
