I'd like to show what version was assigned to a form in the sharepoint version history on the form itself. I need the version of the filled out form, not the template. Any help?

Thanks

By version do you mean the version of the file in sharepoint, e.g. V1 when
it is first saved, V2 when it is saved again?
Have you looked at the Versions web service?
