Hi Troy,

Can you provide some additional detail as to what you are trying to
accomplish as I am not following what you are asking.

If you are inquiring about "Sharepoint" groups, then you would probably be
better served posting your question to a Sharepoint forum.

Thanks,

in Infopath design mode.....
i have a form from someone else that i'm trying to edit/update...

The groups and fields display a 'Locked Group' or 'Locked Element Field' or
other Locked items in Data Source.
I therefore cannot add to the list of values with the Locked mode turned on.

How do i turn off the 'locked group' or locked element field or other locked
icons in an Infopath form within Design mode.
The Enable protection is turned off so the 'locked group', etc, must be
controlled elsewhere. In fact in the Data Source view, the entire form shows
all groups as being locked.

Hi Troy,

Do you know how that template was originally created? It sounds as if it
was from a pre-existing schema and if this is the case, the only way to
change this behavior is going to be to extract the files from the XSN and
change the appropriate attributes so it will be updateable.

Can the original developer of the form make modifications?

Thanks Tom,

I couldn't find the original developer.
Someone thought it had to do with the Data Source and that the form started
out with a sample.
Somehow all of the groups and fields were locked.

If i extract all of the files, i could edit the fieldnames via Visual Studio
and then use the mainfest file to combine the extracted files back into an
.xsn.

Anyway, someone with more Infopath experience did 'some steps' and
essentially got a new file where the groups and fields were not locked.
I used that....

thanks for your assistance on this issue.....

as an fyi, i couldn't find anything either within InfoPath help or via
Office Online on why groups/fields are locked nor how to turn this off
(unlock them).
